摘要:

On‑chip coherent THz generation and control enables compact, broadband sources and devices for telecom and spectroscopy. In this talk, I will begin with coherent THz generation (1–5 THz) and on‑chip manipulation, using QCLs and planarized waveguides to achieve broadband combs in AM and FM regimes. Next, I will present a new active FM mode‑locking mechanism—the quantum walk comb—in mid‑IR QCLs, and extend to unpublished results on THz ring resonators and VECSELs. Then, I will describe generating coherent pulse trains with arbitrary repetition rates from a monolithic device, where active mode‑locking allows large detuning between modulation and natural frequencies, supported by experiments and a semiclassical model with excellent agreement. Finally, I will highlight an active on‑chip three‑channel WDM (2.6–3.2 THz), using inverse design and a frequency‑comb laser to select, amplify, and route coherent radiation, demonstrating how quantum‑engineered devices expand on‑chip THz photonics.
